The right water makes all the difference
The coffee water is one of the basic requirements for the perfect taste. Water with a pH value of 7.0 and a total hardness of approx. 4 - 8°dH is ideal for this. The pH value of soft water can be made harder with the help of a mineral granulate. As most tap water in Germany is predominantly hard, we provide tips for softening the water.
An elegant and inexpensive solution is a table water filter. Although the filter has to be replaced regularly, the running costs are manageable and can be planned for. To improve the taste and soften the water, table filters are a good alternative to permanently installed filters. For tea and coffee drinkers in particular, who boil their water before drinking it, the purchase of a table filter makes perfect sense. The filtering process produces a virtually limescale-free result to ensure an unadulterated coffee taste.
Function of a table water filter
- Coarse particles are removed in the pre-filtration stage.
- In a further step, limescale-causing ions are replaced by sodium ions using a so-called ion exchanger and the carbonate hardness is reduced.
- The activated carbon filter removes unpleasant tastes and odors such as chlorine from the water.
- Last but not least, fine filtration retains the smallest particles and heavy metals. However, ionic substances such as minerals, salts and lime remain in the water.
