With them, the recipe for your homemade iced coffee is sure to succeed.
An iced coffee for the perfect summer feeling at home
The equipment for preparing a delicious iced coffee
You hardly need any technical equipment for this popular summer drink. If you want to prepare a lot of coffee, it is best to use a classic filter coffee machine, a large espresso maker, coffee dripper or a manual filter system. With a portafilter machine or a fully automatic machine, you would have to brew coffee several times for larger quantities. Of course, you will need a freezer for the ice cream and if you want to whip the cream fresh, you will need the necessary kitchen appliances.
- Cold coffee (about 200-250ml per glass)
- Freshly whipped cream or from a spray bottle
- For even more sweetness, use syrup or cane sugar
- High glass
- Straw (sustainable)
- long-handled spoon
- Depending on taste, add some fresh milk or a milk alternativeChocolate chips, sprinkles or cocoa powder
Differences in quality can be tasted very quickly, especially with cold coffee. The choice of coffee bean is decisive for the taste of cold coffee. Because by the time the ice has completely mixed with the coffee, everyone has already had a few sips of strong coffee. And who wants bad coffee? Our Natural Ethiopia coffee beans are perfect for brewing as filter coffee and harmonize wonderfully with the other ingredients in the iced coffee. For preparation with a portafilter machine, we prefer to use our low-acid Malabar Arabica. With a chocolaty taste and a natural syrupy sweetness, this coffee bean perfectly complements the various ingredients in your recipe. You can buy Black Label Coffee beans directly here.

When choosing the ice cream, we recommend using a good dairy ice cream or a comparable vegan alternative. The classic iced coffee is prepared with vanilla ice cream. However, you can also try other ice cream varieties, e.g. chocolate or nut ice cream. This gives the iced coffee a completely different flavor and you are sure to quickly find your personal favorite ice cream when trying it out.
When it comes to cream, you should consider beforehand whether you want to spray the cream or top it with a spoon. For the sprayed version, you will need a spray bottle or you can buy spray cream directly. For the "tablespoon version", simply whip the liquid cream yourself.
Preparing iced coffee in three steps
Step 1
First, prepare your coffee as usual and leave it to cool for at least 2 hours. If you make coffee in the morning, make a cup to cool down straight away. You need about 200 - 250 ml for an iced coffee. This is roughly equivalent to a full coffee cup.

Our tip 1: In summer, it is best to always have cold coffee in stock. This will keep for several days in an airtight container in the fridge. This way, you'll always have a great iced coffee for spontaneous visits and put a smile on your guests' faces.
Our tip 2: If you like your iced coffee very strong, make one or two espressos and/or choose a stronger coffee bean.
Iced coffee recipe: The 2nd step
When the coffee has cooled down well, you can start preparing it in the glass. First place 1-2 scoops of ice cream in the tall glass. Then pour the coffee over the ice cream scoops. For all those who swear by "less is more" when it comes to iced coffee, the summer drink is ready to drink with this step.

Our tip: For a milder taste, pour a little milk or a milk alternative over the ice cream scoops.
Step 3 of the iced coffee recipe
In the final step, the iced coffee is topped with a dollop of cream and can be decorated with chocolate chips, colorful sugar sprinkles or cocoa powder as desired. If the ice cream and whipped cream don't add enough sweetness to the iced coffee, there are still various ways to sweeten the summer drink.

- Our 3 tips for sweetening coffee
- 1. add sugar or sweetener to the coffee while it is being prepared. The big disadvantage of this variant is that this cold coffee is then really sweet and only tastes good to those who like it that sweet.
- 2 Another option and our favorite is liquid cane sugar. You can even make it yourself very easily. Simply mix the cane sugar with hot water in a 1:1 ratio. That's it! It is also best to prepare a small bottle straight away. The liquid cane sugar will keep for ages if it is well sealed and not used up beforehand. With a caramel note, this sugar takes iced coffee to the next level.
- 3. the last opportunity to sweeten your iced coffee is when decorating. With or without whipped cream: there are no limits to your creativity in the final step. Whether sugar sprinkles, chocolate chips or syrup topping. Anything sweet goes here. Even small marshmallows. We simply chopped up a chocolate bar and dusted cocoa powder over it.

Last but not least, an iced coffee should not be without a straw. There are now numerous sustainable options that we would like to recommend to you. Sustainable straws are available in stainless steel, glass or bamboo.
Our tip: You can find macaroni in the pasta section of any well-stocked supermarket. These are also great as a sustainable straw for other cold drinks. This way, you'll also be at the forefront of sustainability at larger parties. Alternatively, you can also use paper-based straws after preparing your iced coffee recipe.

Voilá - your perfect iced coffee
and now off into the sun!
Vegan iced coffee
For the vegan iced coffee variant, you can simply use vegan substitute products. You can find vegan ice cream and vegan cream in any large supermarket.
Iced cocoa for children
Do you have children or guests who don't like coffee but fancy an iced drink? No problem. How about an iced cocoa or iced chocolate? Instead of cold coffee, simply mix drinking chocolate. To avoid lumps in the chocolate, we recommend using the hot preparation method. Then simply leave the drinking chocolate to cool like the coffee and pour over the ice cream instead of the cold coffee. The children's version can of course also come with colorful sprinkles, sugar pearls and mini marshmallows.
