H like Hochland Arabica coffee

Where does highland coffee come from?

Highland coffee is coffee beans that are grown at high altitudes. The altitude at which these coffee beans are grown varies from region to region, but highland coffee beans are usually grown at altitudes between 600 and 2000 meters above sea level. Altitude has a major influence on coffee quality and taste. Colder temperatures and longer growing seasons in the highlands slow down the ripening of the coffee beans, resulting in intense and complex flavors. Highland coffee is grown in many parts of the world, including Colombia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Brazil. Each of these regions has its own growing conditions and practices that influence the taste and quality of the coffee. In Ethiopia, for example, coffee beans are often grown wild and harvested by hand, while in Colombia they are often harvested mechanically on large plantations.

Properties

Highland coffee comes in many varieties with different flavors and characteristics. Some examples are

  • Arabica highland coffee: Mild and sweet Arabica coffee. Arabica coffee beans tend to have a richer taste and less caffeine than Robusta coffee beans.
  •  Robusta highland coffee: This coffee is made from Robusta beans, which are known for their strong flavor and high caffeine content. Robusta coffee beans are generally more resistant to pests and diseases and are therefore particularly suitable for cultivation in less favorable climate zones.
  • Flavor nuances: Depending on the growing region and customs, Hockland coffee can also have different flavor nuances, such as chocolate, nutty, caramel and citrus.
