F for filter coffee preparation
Filter coffee - the eternal classic
Coffee has been prepared as filter coffee for decades. Even today, this method of preparation is considered to be particularly gentle, as unwanted substances are filtered out in the fine pores of the filter bags.
Well-known roasteries and premium cafés often offer filter coffee alongside high-quality and sophisticated portafilter machines for their coffee specialties. What was often the cheap alternative in recent years is increasingly becoming a premium option. This is because filter coffee is considered to be a particularly wholesome preparation method. For this purpose low-acid coffee is often used.
Top filter or filter coffee machine?
Connoisseurs - and admittedly we are among them - prepare their filter coffee by hand using a ceramic top filter. However, the classic filter coffee machine is also practical. Unfortunately, inexpensive appliances often offer limited adjustment options and insufficient temperature control.
Filter coffee: is it different from coffee from a portafilter?
Many people love the intense taste of freshly brewed coffee at high pressure from a portafilter. Gentler people, on the other hand, appreciate the rather mild and balanced taste of freshly prepared filter coffee.
