Events enable a new home

One aspect of the bush fires that led to that they have attracted so much attention is the impact on the animal world. Up to 480 million animals were killed in the fires. All animals have their own defense mechanisms in natural disasters. But now the mechanisms that were previously used have been reduced by earlier fires and deforestation.

The restoration of these areas also means to reconcile the habitats of the wild animals and to create healthy ecosystems that can withstand climate change. This is of crucial importance, since these areas are considered hotspots of biological diversity.

Reforestation efforts support the local vegetation in regrowing, improve soil quality, prevent erosion and control invasive species - which can be particularly aggressive according to forest fires without intervention.

Trees help to cool the planet by sucking and saving harmful greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in their tribes, branches and leaves and returning oxygen into the atmosphere. In cities, trees can reduce the total temperature of up to eight degrees Celsius. Since more than 50% of the world's population lives in cities - a number that is expected to increase to 66% by 2050 - pollution and overheating become a real threat. Fortunately, an adult tree can absorb an average of 48 pounds of carbon dioxide a year, which makes cities a healthier and safer place of residence.
